Knowing How To

Have you ever heard that story about the ocean-going ship engine that failed?

In the version I heard, it was the luxury liner, the SS Queen Elizabeth.

The vessel's owners brought in all their on-the-job engineers to fix it, but none of them could get the engine running. Finally, they brought in an expert who had been fixing ships all his life.

The old expert hauled in his bag of tools and looked around a bit. He crawled all over that engine room, looking, touching, thinking. Finally, he went to his bag, pulled out a small hammer, and tapped a few times on a valve. The engine roared to life.

A week later, the owners of the ship received a bill for ten thousand dollars.They were outraged. After all, the man had only tapped on a valve with a hammer! They immediately demanded he send them an itemized bill explaining his charges.

He sent them a bill that read:

"Tapping with a hammer.....................$2
Knowing where to tap..................$9,998"

Thus, knowing how to is the important ingredient in the bowl of cherries some people call life.

We all need to learn how to go about our daily chores, interact with those around us who know what to do whatever they do, and ultimately find our own niche to move and grow.

Some are born rich or poor, some attain wealth or lose all and yet there are those who have success and riches thrust upon them, or at the other extreme, people who will never have anything they can call ther own.

When the subject of 'having something to call their own' is mentioned, we can speak of those who are spiritually and emotionally rich and do not therefore desire to have riches to include in their success stories. These are the non-materialistic among the many who prefer to think more of helping others than bother about whether they have a home they can call their own.

But we are now speaking of the HowTo get to where we want to be, so the rest of this site will be devoted to that end...and the main thread will be devoted to the yet to be determined path of getting to where we want to be after this life.

To this end, we will start from there, which is Heaven and work our way to the beginning where we all living beings are at the moment.

Please therefore join me in this journey and let us hope that we will come to some positive conclusion some time in the not too distant future.
